Microsoft Zune personified

Zune Guy AustraliaMany who have been following the Microsoft Zune since it’s release will be aware of the man pictured on the left. The ‘Zune Guy’ as he is dubbed in cyberspace has for some time been gunning to officially change his name to ‘Microsoft Zune’. Despite a number of troubles along the way, the man, who has 4 tattoos of different Zune icons and sayings, is still confident of getting the renaming completed. One such problem was the renaming fee, which he was told was $500, a little over budget for such a little project perhaps. He’s not been told though that it should only cost $150 so he intends to proceed with the renaming as planned. We’ll keep you posted as to when ‘Microsoft Zune’ the man is born.

Valentines Zune goes Original

Wednesday, March 26th, 2008 4:43am

Last month we posted about a special edition red zune exclusively for valentines day. Turns out after all that it wasn’t such an exclusive as the red zune is now available in 80gb from Zune Originals.

Originally we thought it was unlikely this would ever be available for Australian residents but hopefully we might see a red version once the Zune is officially released here.

Microsoft has today rolled out the Zune software update 2.3 (not the firmware update). The update brings virtually no new features but does have a serious number of fixes. There are a number of updates from marketplace fixes to syncing solutions.

It remains to be seen what affect this will have on Zune’s in Australia so if anybody has been brave enough to flash the system with the new software update please let us know how it goes.

Zune in Australia in 2008

Sunday, January 13th, 2008 1:47pm

The Consumer Electronics Show brings exciting news every year about the future of technology. This year’s show has again come up with the goods, and the Microsoft Zune is the focus. It has been announced by Microsoft that the Zune will be released globally in 2008, meaning sometime this year we will have the Zune.

If that’s not reason to celebrate the new year, then i’m not sure what is!

Yellow (Citron) Zune

Monday, November 26th, 2007 12:29pm

The yellow coloured Zune CitronRecently a hidden color for the Zune was supposedly uncovered. This bright yellow Zune, entitled the Citron Zune has since been confirmed as an internal once off (similar to the orange player released last year) with only Microsoft employees being able to get their mitts on one.

Interestingly, another source has contradicted this statement by suggesting that there might be hope for us yet (at least for those in America, not so much for us Aussies!). Apparently the yellow unit may become available early 2008 in partnership with a certain, unnamed sponsor.

Keep your ears to the ground for more information.

First Anniversary, Still no Australian release date

Sunday, November 25th, 2007 3:55am

One year on from the US release of the Microsoft Zune and there is still no confirmed release date for the audio player in Australia. Microsoft are trying hard to prevent importing of the device but unless they release some details soon this option seems like the best one, at least for the time being.

So many dates have now been touted as a potential release date that there is no way to even tell when we might expect the player. Originally it was expected early 2007, now 2008 seems more feasable. Even 2010 has been quoted in some reports. We can only hope we get it here before then!
